“The Observing Self Collection” represents an introspection, a summary, and a carrier of all the big and small events that occurred during the learning process in a cross-media art studio. “Observing Self” draws inspiration from Wang Guowei’s words: “In the realm of the self, I observe things, thus both things and I bear the colors of myself. In the realm without self, things observe things, hence it’s unknown what is me and what is things”; tracing even further back to the “I Ching,” one can easily find the rationale starting from “observation”: “Observing my life, advancing and retreating; observing my life, the noble man is without fault; children observing, the petty man is without fault, the noble man is regretful.”…
I am but a speck of dust, not even a fleeting moment in the vastness of the galaxy, nor a surging wave in the deep ocean, insufficient to represent a single breath in the vast world. This collection merely serves to document the subtle and minor learnings of this phase.
